Our Reflect
Reconciliation
Action Plan at Tangalooma

At Tangalooma Island Resort, we are proud to operate on Mulgumpin, the traditional Country of the Quandamooka People. We acknowledge their deep and ongoing connection to land, sea and culture, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) marks an important step in strengthening relationships, deepening understanding and creating meaningful opportunities for reconciliation.

Through our RAP, we are committed to building respectful partnerships with the Quandamooka People and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, while embedding reconciliation across our operations, our team and the experiences we offer guests.

Our Reconciliation Journey

For many years, Tangalooma Island Resort has sought opportunities to acknowledge and celebrate Quandamooka culture through partnerships, education and visitor experiences connected to Country.

We have been proud to work with Elders and Quandamooka representatives through initiatives such as the EcoMarines program, as well as collaborating with Quandamooka people and businesses on selected guest experiences that share cultural knowledge and connection to Country.

Our Reflect RAP provides a framework to guide this work and ensure reconciliation is embedded in how we operate as a business. It focuses on four key pillars:

Relationships

Strengthening respectful and meaningful partnerships with the Quandamooka community.

Respect

Increasing cultural awareness and understanding among our team and visitors.

Opportunities

Supporting employment, training and supplier opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Governance

Supporting employment, training and supplier opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

RAP Governance

As part of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, Tangalooma Island Resort has established a RAP Governance System to guide how we implement and strengthen our reconciliation commitments.

This includes a clear and structured cycle outlining how we consult and engage with the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC), the QYAC Board, Elders and the wider community. This approach helps ensure our actions are guided by community, culturally respectful and accountable as we progress our reconciliation journey.

We are also delighted to share that we have established an Elders Consulting Group to provide cultural guidance and advice. We gratefully acknowledge the following members:

Our Commitment to the Future

At Tangalooma Island Resort, reconciliation is an ongoing journey. Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan represents an important step in strengthening relationships, deepening cultural understanding and creating meaningful opportunities with the Quandamooka community.

Guided by the knowledge and leadership of the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation, Elders and community members, we remain committed to listening, learning and working together in a spirit of respect.

As we continue this journey, we aim to build stronger partnerships, celebrate the rich culture of Mulgumpin, and ensure our operations contribute positively to the cultural, social and economic aspirations of the Quandamooka People.

We invite our guests, partners and community to join us in learning more about this special place and supporting a shared future built on respect and reconciliation.
